What do ya'll think? Re: Ds's TFP

So, I had ds's TFP out of the car and was cleaning it... In the process, the destructive 2yo got real quiet... He was picking out the soft foam that sits between the EPP and the cover. I think there are some pics of a naked TFP in the naked carseat thread. Anywho... I had a time getting in touch with LC. When I finally got them to see if they could send another piece (a CPST aquaintance I have and I thought it would be the fix and a safe option seeing as the foam is really comfort foam, not EPP). Well. I got LC and they called me back with an answer from an engineer saying that I would need to get a new seat. I called back today and spoke with a supervisor. Seems really odd that a seat with a 7yr life would have a flimsy foam like that and it not be replaceable. In my thoughts since that foam is touched and can be pulled/torn if you arent careful when messing with the harness, they are going to have people need to have it replaced in a 7yr span if used as a primary seat. Anywho. She is contacting the engineer again and one of them is supposed to call me next week....

Thoughts? I really need to fight them on this. I mean REALLY. I really can't buy a new seat right now and if I have to, Dad is going to help us out and ds is getting a RN XTSL. I'm just ticked as I really like the TFP, but this is a bad feature/problem. I wanted to wait until spring to buy the XTSL and move dd to the TFP at that time.

My DD2 tore, yes tore, 30% of that soft foam of the back. I called them wondering if I could simply glue that peice back on. Nope, but it was under warrently as it was less than a year old so they sent me a new one, no charge. This was even though they knew it was user error (I used the seat briefly naked because of one of her "blow outs").

So, if it can't be used like that and it obviously less than year old, tell them you want a new one.

That is really, really weird. Not that your lo ripped the foam,;) but that they won't just send you a new piece. Britax seats sell the replacement foam for $6 a piece. I've replaced quite a few on my Britax seats. No biggy.

Did the rep not understand what part you were talking about? How on earth is a couple dollar piece of foam expected to survive 7 years without ripping or a cat eating some of it (which is what happened with my DC).

My point exactly. I told her about Britax and how THEY will replace the foam.
