SK Dry-Seat or other methods of keeping a seat dry

My 5 year old has potty issues which is not the point of this thread. I just want to know if there is any way I can prevent her car seat from getting icky when she pees in it. She is supposed to wear a diaper cover over her underpants, but I have so many things to worry about (especially when going somewhere) that I don't always check before we leave. It is highly annoying when we drive 2 hours away from home and find that dd has peed in her car seat. (As she did yesterday.)

Dd rides in a radian. SK makes the Dry-Seat product which fits the radian and I suppose has been crash tested in it. The reviews on amazon aren't all that great, however. Has anyone used this product? Does it work? Is there something else that would work better that I can put in the car seat?

When my son was potty learning and still having occasional accidents we used chux pads under him in the seat. (They are also called disposable under pads and can be found with the incontinence items at your local drug store, Target, or Walmart. Puppy pads are also the same thing. Look for the super thin ones) They are thinner than a disposable diaper, didn't interfere with the straps in any way and kept the seat completely dry the few times my son did have an accident in the car.

I have some of those chux pads left over from my home birth. I kinda wanted something that would stay in place. I decided that since the dry seat and the longer crotch strap were on sale I'd go ahead, buy and try it out. (My 6 year old could use a longer crotch strap.)
