when are you supposed to remove them? i dont have my manuals anymore and am having a hard time finding it online right now.

i thought they were supposed to be removed after a few months...or at least before a year. anyone know off hand?

I don't see a weight or age listed. Here is what it says:

Infant Body Pillow
The Infant Body Pillow is designed to provide better fit and comfort
for infants using this child seat. For additional side support, fold the
side flaps, as shown in figure C.
NOTE: Remove the Infant Body Pillow after child can sit comfortably
in the child seat without additional support.

so would you guys (certified techs) consider those safe at any time, regardless of age? or what would your advice be to a parent? obviously, a 14 month old is sitting unassisted.

I would remove it as soon as the child fit well without it, and sat unassisted. Anytime I can eliminate all that extra padding, I want to. That is my personal opinion.

Here are the Britax manuals (you can make up a manufacture date) - http://www.britaxusa.com/customer-service/user-guides

I expect an average sized 14 mo would be a little cramped with the inserts.

I used the padding on our first DC until Dd was over 1yo because she was an itty bitty and needed it for a while. As soon as it seemed to be squished in there, I removed it. No age or weight limit specifically.
