it looks like the gift card does not apply to the purchase... only for future purchases. or am i missing something? still, a pretty good deal!

Unrelated: Hey Wineaux, we have a son named Ian. And people can't figure out whether it's EE-an or EYE-an. It'll be mispronounced equally no matter which way you spell it, probably, so...?? This probably wasn't much help, I'm sure. :p

I've seen the name Ewan around occasionally. It's very much like Ian, I believe, if that's a possible compromise. Best wishes!

I have an Ian, who is a July baby (2003). My cousin has a son spelled Iain. My kid's Ian gets mispronounced less often. ;)

Yes, the eGift Card is for future purchases, but it's still a hot deal in the long run as we could all come up with a way to spend another fifty clams at Target later on. :D

Well, Ian and Iain are both Scottish/Celtic versions of the name John. Try playing around with the pronunciations to get it close to John. Throw in a Scottish accent as well. It's kind of fun.

You could always go with the Russian version of John -- Ivan :D

Yeah, but that's not quite in keeping with my Scottish heritage. Besides, I'm going to need a good excuse to get a seriously good bottle of Single Malt Scotch to hoist a wee dram on each of his birthdays until he is 18, and then we'll finish the bottle off together.
:D

Hmmm... That just reminded me that I need to talk to my dad about getting a case of Vintage Port for the year he is born. It's an old old tradition. By the time your child is 21, the Port will just be starting to be ready to drink. From then on you open a bottle on his/her Birthday and Wedding Day. The idea is to buy the Port when it's $20'ish a bottle instead of waiting for the actual year you want to drink it when it's more like $250-1000 a bottle. A tradition firmly based upon planning ahead. ;)
