a Graco My Ride 65 today. Her boyfriends little girl (4 and the same size of my 4 year old) has been riding in a backless booster for well over a year now (from what he said). They have only been dating for a little bit and I think my sister just found this out. She was going to take her somewhere and her b/f, the girls dad, handed her the booster seat and my sister said she looked at him like he had 2 heads and told him she was not riding with her in that (my nephew who is almost 6 is still harnessed in his Regent). She ran up to Wal-Mart and grabbed the MR65 and said she is totally impressed with it (easy install, recline FF'ing - he daughter *had* to ride in it, etc...).

She did say she will more than likely install it into her boyfriends car to keep her harness when riding with Daddy and just transfer it over when she needs to take her somewhere or when they all ride together. She said she did the whole speech to him about harnessing and importance of it, etc....and if she wanted to ride wih her, she would min. have to be harness (though she said she has half a thought to turn her RF'ing). She said he didn't argue and just didn't know any better since she was over 30 lbs - he thought the booster seat was just fine since it is rated for 30+ lbs (IDK which type it was).

YAY for my sister!!!

That is AWESOME! I talked to my cousin last week who's baby boy is outgrowing his Chicco by height. I tried to talk her into a Radian since he's a tall baby, but Im still thrilled they decided to go with 2 MyRides instead. Hopefully he'll be RF for a LONG time. It feels so good when you have a hand in helping someone keep their child safer.

Probably a graco HBB turbo (my in-laws bought one for DD last spring and I told them she was not using it!) they said why she is over 30lbs! And I know that one is rated for 30lbs+

yay for her! and good for him being receptive to new info... it's hard to know when there is so much on the market and they are labeled like they are fine.

That is so great! Cosco does indeed make backless boosters that start at 30 lbs and, unless they have changed it, they also say a child has to be one years old.

i nephew was put in one of those at 3 and 30! and his mom won't put him back in it after their last accident where he flew right into the windshield cause it doesn't fit him right especially with the shoulder belt behind him! she thinks he's safer in the middle with the lap only belt....but it has been in like 3 or 4 accidents!!! i think he's about 50 lbs and 4'2 or 4'3.

sorry for the vent!!!!

go sister for doing whats right!
