Do you know which one it is?

Some of the Eddie Bauer/Cosco infant seats have been EXTREMELY difficult (if not impossible) to install.

About the plastic buckle-- it depends on the type of plastic. It must have passed the federal regs to be on the market. I don't have any data to support whether the plastic or metal buckles are safer and at which speeds they pass, etc. I don't know. Sorry!

Hi, we owned one (eddie bower deluxe travel system). It was an okay seat, it got us through the first year:) But the plastic pieces in between the legs were a major pain, especially if our little girl was wearing bulkier clothes. It was very hard to hold them together long enough to insert them into the buckle.
If I would have know about this site then & done research, we would have definitely gone with something else. But being a first time Mom, I thought that all/most infant seats were like that. But with the seat we have now, I couldn't have been more wrong:)
Sorry, I couldn't be more help in providing safety data. But I thought I would pass on my opinion about the seat's buckle.

I had one for my first baby and really liked it, mine was the designer 22 but they're all the same if they're made my cosco/safety 1st. I didn't have alot of experience with infant seats when I bought mine but I still like it alot better then alot of other ones I've tried.

Ohh, its the new one with the weird base? I haven't had any experience with those, just the older type bases. I didn't know they sold the new ones at odd lots, I've only seen the older type ones there. Guess that means I'm going to have to make a trip out there if they've got some new stuff in.

You may be right. I'm not sure what they sell at Odd Lots. I just wanted to point out that there could possibly be a difference. The Caress is a huge pain to use.:)

The OP didn't say which type it was, so I don't know. You could be right that it is the older type. ??? I'm not sure. ???
