2010 Tundra D-cab vs Crew cab

Ha everyone, I am new to this forum. I am going to be a Dad with a twins by next March, am very excited and stress at the same time! My wife drive a 05 Camry and I have a 350Z. I plan to buy a new Tundra as a secondary family vehicle (not daily).

My question is do I really need a crew-cab? Is that enough room in the D-cab to fit 2 child seats in the back? Is the D-cab rear door wide enough?

While I haven't installed a car seat in the back of a Tundra D-cab, I have installed one (Graco SafeSeat - now the Snugride 32/35) rear facing in the back of a Ford F150 Xtra-cab and it fit quite well. I have also installed a Britax Boulevard forward facing in the same truck.

Having worked for Toyota I can say that the Tundra D-cab does have more room than the Ford Xtra-cab in regards to rear passenger room. The doors of the Tundra D-cab actually open nicely.

To be sure I would actually take a car seat with you to the dealer you are buying the truck from and ask if you can install it in the D-cab to ensure you make the right decision. Any reputable dealer/salesperson would allow you to do so. Make sure you try the car seat on both sides of the truck so you can be sure you have enough room in the front.

When you are spending good money on a truck you want to be sure you will be happy with your purchase and that it will fit your needs.
