Favorite infant seat? Help me choose!

Here's my info, maybe you all can help. I'm going NUTS trying to figure out seats for my kids. We are getting a new (to us) minivan so size isn't an issue anymore:thumbsup:

I am due in May (summer baby, keep that in mind). It gets hot here (New Mexico). I have pretty tiny kids (DS was 7 even and DD was 5 pounds 5 oz at 35 weeks). There is a chance I'll have this one early as well, although hopefully not before 36 weeks. I'm guessing it will be around 6 pounds (hopefully).

I'm short and I don't plan on carrying an infant seat once the kid weighs more than about 15 pounds. Too heavy and awkward. I've considered skipping the infant seat altogether, BUT I'd like to have it for church and other times I need somewhere for baby to "be" but not in the sling (if I'm teaching a church class etc.)

I've been eyeing the keyfit Miro, as well as the new snugride Mickey (only 22 pounds though). DD was in a snugride in the fuego print and was MISERABLE. Too plasticy.

So I need suggestions, ideas etc. If I go with a seat that is too big for the baby, I do have a friend who's keyfit I could borrow to get the baby home from the hospital (and then we just wouldn't go anywhere until it got a smidge bigger anyway).

A Snugride is not a great choice for a baby who is predicted to be small. I'd go with the Chicco Keyfit, the Britax Chaperone, or one of the Combi infant seats.

We have a KeyFit and I love it. DD2 fit in it quite well when she home from the hospital when she was two days old, at 5 lbs. 15 oz and 21" - in fact, I move the harness straps up to the middle slot a couple days later. It fits small babies quite nicely.

Yep, for tiny babies, Keyfit is awesome. Plus, the Miro fabric is really nice, not slick at all.

the keyfit was fantastic for my 6lb 4oz baby. the infant insert in that seat is amazing, it really does make a teeny, skinny little newbie fit perfectly. i don't think you'll regret the kf at all!
