Question Three Harnessed Across 3rd Row 2007 Odyssey

With DC4 coming in June, I am thinking ahead to how I need to configure my seats. We carpool 2-3 days a week, so I'd love to be able to reserve one of the captain's chairs for the Evenflo HBB. If I keep it in the car, DD1 is constantly bugging me to sit in it and I want her in a harnessed seat as long as possible. Currently, we own:
- Evenflow HBB (purchased in Sep. 2009)
- RA (purchased in Nov. 2005 for DD1 ... not sure how long this will last)
- Safety 1st Uptown (purchased in Oct. 2007)
- Radian (purchased in Feb. 2007)
- Frontier (purchased in Aug. 2009)

I am not opposed to buying a new convertible seat.

My kids stats:
DD1 47", 43#; 4 yrs. 7mo.
DD2 33", 25#, 2 yrs. 8mo.
DD3 34", 27#, 2yrs. 8mo.

I  my FR. DD1 doesn't have the headflop on the 3+ hour ride we have to the IL's like she did in the RN. If I have a choice, I'd like to have DD1 next to the baby since she is less likely to bother/more likely to be helpful than one of the twins.

TIA!

How many extra kids do you take when you carpool and what are their ages? Also is your Ody a 7-passenger or an 8-passenger?

The 3rd row of the Ody is very hard to get 3-across with. If it were me, I'd put the twins in the 3rd row rear-facing. You might be able to get a Radian outboard and possibly the Uptown or RA next to it in the middle. Hopefully you'd then be able to get a skinny booster in the passenger side. Then in the middle row you could do the FR next to the baby. (With the passenger-side captain's chair scooted over next to the other captain's chair.)

I have an 8-passenger, but the jump seat stays stored most of the time since we don't really use it and the kids like to have the center aisle to get into their seats.

Just one extra kid ... either a 6yr old that regularly rides in a LBB (but a HBB in my car) or a 7yr old also in a booster of some sort.

I cannot fit the RN with the Uptown and RA in the 3rd row ... FF or RF. I can fit (in a pinch) the Evenflo HBB, FF RA (haven't tried it RF), FF RN. The HBB is really hard to buckle.

I am wondering if maybe I can do RA, RN, RA50 (buy a new one?) Because the Uptown is low (no foot) it doesn't puzzle well next to the RN, but I am thinking a RA50 might since it does have a foot.

So are your twins currently forward-facing?

I meant have the RN and EITHER the RA OR Uptown next to it...both of them rear-facing. I'd put the RN on the driver's side and the Uptown next to it, then have a booster seat for the carpool kid on the passenger side. That leaves the baby and your oldest in the second row still. And if you leave the jumpseat out and scoot the passenger side captain's chair over to the middle position, that will leave room to get back to the 3rd row to get the twins buckled.

I'd like to clarify that seats expire based on date of manufacture, not date of purchase, so that is important information to know :)

I know - I was just using that as a reference. It is bitterly cold here today and I was too lazy to go out and look at the DOM of the seats (and one is in DH's car, so I couldn't even check it. How long does the RA last? It is the seat I have had the longest, so I am guessing it will expire first.

To Chex ... I just flipped the twins FF. I am not opposed to RF them again, it was just for getting the seats three across the back for that brief period.

RN RF ... hmmm ... that might work! It is just so darn tall that I never think about having it RF. Once we get a bit of a thaw I will try that. THANKS!!
