Unfortunately, my son rode home today in a very, very expired car-seat. All is well, and he is safe, PLUS no one will ever ride in this seat again (so that is a huge bonus!). My car wouldn't start, so I asked my friend to borrow the school's seat and bring him home...I expected a dirty seat....an "older" seat....a not so great seat.....I did NOT expect...
a Century Smart w/overhead bar from 1995!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YIKES!!!
I can't believe my friend left the school w/him in it--she actually called me after she already left the school and said that it was surely expired (DUH!). She knows better. But at any rate--at least no one will ever ride in it again.
I'm loaning a seat to our preschool for now, and my friend and I will purchase a Scenera or something to donate! EGADS!
FWIW, I found it interesting that ds, age 4, 34 lbs and 40" tall w/a bit of a long torso actually fit exactly into the seat (shoulders AT the top harness slots!). I actually had a 5 point of these seats back in 2002 for my niece and I loved it.
So, anyone want a vintage seat for fun??? LOL
