Britax Marathon CS digging into leg?

My daughter and I were in a fender bender and I replaced her Britax Marathon with a Britax Marathon CS.

The seat is fine but when it's done up, the buckle digs deep into her leg.
We've read the manual but can't seem to find any way of correcting this.

It can't be returned at this point (we got rid of the box) so we are hoping there is some way of fixing it. The regular Marathon never had this issue.

Any ideas/comments would be great appreciated!

Do you have the belly pad on the seat? (The belly pad is the fabric circle pad around the buckle that is used over the belly.)

Sometimes having the belly pad on can change how kids fit in the seat. Sometimes if the belly pad is on the seat, it can prevent the buckle from digging into the kiddo. For other kids, removing the belly pad can help.

Also, is there any chance that something is interfering with the length of the buckle strap? I think maybe sometimes with a seatbelt install for rear-facing, the seatbelt could be routed incorrectly under the cover and could be interfering with the length of the buckle strap.

Hmmm, can't remember if the belly pad is on or not - will take a look, thanks for the tip!

She is FF and a chunky monkey (34 inches, 32 lbs) but still, her other Marathon didn't do that.

I will get my husband to check on the install as well.

The Belly Pad comes assembled on the seat. I find that most parents think it's a butt pad and make the kiddo sit on it, instead of putting it up between the buckle and the belly

LOL She definately isn't sitting on it - my husband installed it so that's why I needed to check. I've been out of commission since the accident (can't lift) so I haven't been buckling her in.
