How long will this last?

DS turned 3 at the end of July. He has one ONE slot left on his Frontier . The kid has the impulse control of a drunk 18 year old boy :p and some special needs. He will not be booster ready for several more years.

We :love::love: his Frontier. He fits great, sleeps great, etc. FWIW when we bought it a few months ago he had 3 notches to go, now he is half way to needing the top notch.

Any guesstimates at how long we have?

I'm hoping 1.5 years cuz that's where my 5.5 yo is (1/2 way to needing top slot) and I want her to make it to 7. I'm thinking you should've kept that regent for him:)

Me too, I'm really kicking myself now  He's got a Nauti in my mom's car, but he's got the same amount of time left in it :(.

He might really slow down - my son did, though he's still huge! When KDM gave him the Regent at 3 years, he was already even with 3rd from top slots, and by 4 on the 2nd from top. Now he's about ready for the top slots. So while at 3 it seemed he was so big, now, it slowed down. Granted, he's still bigger than the average kid that could fit the Regent till 7 8 or beyond. He'll outgrow it before he turns 6, I think, or shortly after. So your son might slow down.

But if it were me, I'd want a Regent. This is one of the reasons I'm SOOOOO disappointed that britax discontinued the Regent. No, the seat isn't for all kids, but man, when its needed, its really needed and there isn't anything else that compares.

I'll guess a year, but clearly none of us have any way of knowing.

If he has issues w/ impulsivity, I'd re-snag a Regent while you still can. :twocents:

Is he in diapers still? I know that my two DSs have close to the same torso height now that DS1 is in underwear. (They wear cloth, sposies probably wouldn't make as much of a difference.

Also, they tend to grow in spurts, so since he's just had one you might be safe for a while. My DS1 is overdue and I'm hoping he makes it till late Feb because otherwise he will have no pants that fit. He's wearing all his from last year.

i think i'd snag a regent too! tho i bet he'll slow way down as well. i only tested a frontier in BBB on their test bench & was surprised at how lil room my 3yo had. he'd be fine in the top slots with not that much growing room. only a wee bit higher than the FPSVD he is using.

My 5 year old is already on the top slots of his regent and already outgrew the Frontier strap heights about a year ago. For him a Regent was NEEDED not wanted! He wouldn't have made it this long in his harness without it and he just now is over 40lbs consistently so no booster would have really worked either. You may end up with a RSTV for him in the future if he has poor impulse control or you can't swing a Regent for him. Around 3.5 my son's torso height did slow down and he made it longer than I thought would in the Regent. I sort of thought at the rate he was going he was only going to be 35lbs and be out of the Regent. I would assume you have about a year left in the Frontier if his growth is like most kids and slows some.

He'll have awhile yet.

DD was on the 2nd-from-top slot of the Regent at 3 and now over a year later she's just a tiny smidge below them, so she has awhile before the top slots. I had actually moved her up during a growth spurt and then moved them back down when she didn't get above the slot.
