Replacement seat advice

We were in a wreck about a month ago and I'm trying decide on the replacement seats (they've been in back-up seats, not the wrecked seats).

I'm pretty sure I'm going to put my almost 8-month-old in the Radian XT SL (replacing a Keyfit 30). It's my nearly 5 year old that I'm not so sure about. I'm not ready for him to be in a booster. He was in a Regent, but after the FMVSS testing, I'm not so sure I want to go that route again. His back-up is a Nautilus,a nd I'm happy with it. He's a big kid, though, and it just doesn't seem terribly comfortable. The bottom of the seat seems pretty shallow and it seems like as he it gets bigger, it won't support his legs well, which would feel uncomfortable from dangling. I'm hesitating on the Frontier for a number of reasons. Is there another good option.

He's pretty big. About 48 lbs (back in July--last time he went to the dr.). Around 80th% for height. He was on the second to top harness slots on the Regent, with plenty of room to grow before he moved up to the last harness slots.

One of the reasons some people aren't huge Frontier fans is the install issue, but if you can tackle a Regent, you'll probably be able to handle the Frontier. If you don't like the Nauti, and you don't want another Regent, and you want him harnessed -- that's pretty much it, I think.

Thanks, and bummer. haha

I actually really like the Nautilus, and so does the B-man. I was just thinking long term, it might get uncomfortable b/c it is comparatively shallow.

For the Frontier, I wasn't too worried about the install. I've gotten awesome installs with the Regent in 9 different cars, so I figured I could handle it. Honestly, I'm just not sure how much faith I have in any of the Britax seats FF at this point. And I used to be a Britax snob. :( I'm probably overreacting, but those FMVSS test really have me worried.

I feel like I should also say, that Brendan has been in two wrecks FF in Britax seats. He was absolutely perfect, not even sore after both of them. He was in the Regent in a very minor wreck. However, the wreck in the BLVD was a major wreck on the highway--5 weeks of PT for me and $9500 damage to the car.

You'd think that'd comfort me a bit, but in all honesty, it's made me just that much more obsessive about keeping them both as safe as possible.
