6 year old in Radian?

My daughter is currently in a Graco Turbobooster (she's just under 40 lbs, about 43"). She'll be 6 in two weeks.

With all the recent discussion of 5 pt. harnesses, I'm contemplating purchasing a Radian for her and my 4.5 yr old son (just over 40 lbs, about 40" tall).

However, I'm wondering if I'll get my $$ worth by purchasing a radian for her. I'm thinking I may only get a year or so of use out of it. It's a no- brainer for my 4.5 yr old since he's a wiggler in his seat, but she is a more conscience rider (sits up straight, doesn't nap, etc).

Is it safe to keep her in the Graco or should I bite the bullet and get the radian?

Thanks

how would she feel about being put back in a harness? Would that bother her? I think at 6 years old, she would probably do just fine in a BPB. I'd probably keep the Graco at this stage of the game.

Depends. What seat is your son in? Can you put your dd in that and tell us where her shoulders are in relation to the top slots? That will give us an idea of her torso height and about how long she would have in the Radian.

FWIW, my friend's dd is 45 inches tall and still below the second-to-top slots on the Radian with probably 3 years left in that seat.

And a booster seat is "safe" if the rider isn't a wiggler and knows to stay properly positioned at all times, but a five point harness provides two extra points of restraint, which can be beneficial in side impacts and rollovers. I'll be keeping my dd harnessed as long as possible. She's a bit younger than your dd but a bit bigger, and I want her as protected as possible for as long as possible. She rides in a Parkway (booster) part-time, but is still barely fitting her current harnessed seat and we'll be getting a new one ASAP.
