1992 Volvo 740 - Upgrade Seatbelts?

Hello,

We recently got a 1992 Volvo 740 wagon. It doesn't have ratcheting seatbelts or latch anchors, so right now we're using a combination of the lap belt and one of those h-shaped seatbelt locks. We rearrange the carseats in our car pretty often, and the h-lock is just not convenient. Can we upgrade to LATCH anchors or ratcheting seatbelts?

this would be something you need to call volvo specific on. I have heard of retrofitting new seatbelt, but always consult the manufacturer first.

There is nothing wrong with using a locking clip, it just is sometimes a pain to work with. But locking seatbelts can sometimes be just as big of a pain.

When you write "lap belt", is it a lap-only belt or a lap/shoulder belt? You cannot use a regular locking clip on a lap-only belt: you must use a belt-shortening clip. Do the seatbelts not lock at all? They can lock at the retractor or at the latchplate.

Lower LATCH anchors can not be retrofitted. Seatbelts may be upgradeable, but that would be a question for the dealer.

Dh has a 93 and it has lap and shoulder belts in all seating positions. I believe that was the standard for volvo for several years before that. It has free flow/ ELR seatbelts. We only used Abigails Marathon in it so we never had to fight with a locking clip.
