The seat is out of warranty and may have been damaged (as opposed to defective): I don't think Britax is responsible for fixing it.
If that's what happened when she checked it on a plane there's no way in heck I would use that seat again, fixable or not. This is why you should never check a car seat
The tether is a replaceable part, but I would check the seat over VERY carefully for other damage.
Totally agreed. That's why I don't check my seats ever. If I convince her not to use this seat anymore then she is either going to put him back in an outgrown Roundabout that is in the 2nd car.... that was in a minor crash.... or she's going to put him straight into a booster. He's 4 years and likely under 40 lbs.
