X DH has my 2 regants in his car for the older girls...Well he goes and gets a new car without seeing if the seats even fit at all! I can get a decent install with latch (not real happy with that though about 3/4 in movement) and they is not way to install long belt and short belt is about 10 inch movement :( Why oh why didn't he listen to me? I told him take the seats...make sure they install!!

Does anyone own a Mazda6 and know a trick to getting a good install? He has leather seats...guess I'm going seat shopping AGAIN for him :(

Oh IDK the latch limit on the Mazda6 I hope it's 48 lbs lol Cause ODD is 46:whistle:

Mazda defers to the carseat, and I'm pretty sure the Regents have 48lb LATCH limits, so you should be good for now.

What's the specific trouble with the installs - you just said you "can't" do the LBP, and the SBP is too loose, but you didn't say why or what the problem seems to be.

I'm not familiar with the Mazda6, but my sister has a Mazda3, and I've never noticed anything specific that should be affecting your installs.

Do you Regents have the long latch strap?

if not, you can pull the LATCH straps THROUGH the carseat. there's holes on either side of inside of the shell to pull them through, if i'm not making sense, i have my regent inside, i could take pics if you'd like.

The seat belt isn't long enough :( for a long belt...It was about 5 inches short from the buckle!!

I'm not giving up! I know I can do this :) I need to go look for a tech from here...Maybe they can help. I'll have to go to drive an hour but it will be worth it :thumbsup:The techs in my town ummm aren't real up to date...and I dought they have even ever seen Regants lol

Oh SBP...I pulled and pulled the belt as tight as it would go and the seat just slide around. Like the leather was to slippery. That's when I decided to use LATCH to install. If he would have helped me Ithink I could have gotten it tighter and it was less than it inch. So it will work until I figure something else out...

I had the same issue with my Frontier when I had a car accident. I bought a new Frontier right after we got the rental car and had to take the rental car back because of the poor fit.

I got my Regent in my sisters Mazda 6. It wasn't easy, but it was done. There is no way to do a lbp though! The hardest part is to push the seats back (towards the rear of the car) while your pushing down. If you don't push it back while pushing down it just sort of slides around leaving you scratching your head how on earth you thought you had it that tight and now it's so loose.

I put on knee pads and then climbed in and pushed the seat backwards with my knee and down with my arms while someone else tightened the belt. Once you get it in you don't want to take it out! I told my sister no way are we ever doing that again!

would a thin towel help with the slippery leather?

A towel won't (and shouldn't be used) to address a poor install. Unless you meant to use it as a tool to hold the seat still while tightening it :) But, it can't be used as a 'fix' for a poor install.

NO no no... I meant it as a tool... I thought that would be understood, since it's been recommended before to try a thin towel (and until we found out it melted in the heat, rubber shelf liner) to solve the slippery issue with leather...

if all seats came with the nice rubbery parts on the bottom like the Radians (though they have other issues with many vehicles, so don't think I'm saying Radians are easy), it would help. (I know other seats have that stuff, too, just can't think of any others)
