Companion chest clip sliding down

How do I fix this? Too many times when I get Elliot out of his seat the chest clip has slid down to his tummy area. I keep his straps nice and tight so I don't know what the problem is.

Is it the paper clip style chest clip? I find that the inner piece that you thread the harness through tends to get loose over time. Have you tried bending that piece back the opposite way? That seems to help for mine.
