We bought a radian xtsl to replace our britax marathon. How do I mail this thing without breaking the bank? I checked at The UPS Store. That was absurd in price. I plan to go to the distribution center for UPS and see if that's beter. Advice is appreciated

You have to keep cutting down the box to a size that the total of the height plus width plus depth is less than some magical number. Like, a box 20" by 22" by 18" totals 60" and is inexpensive to ship, but a box 20" by 22" by 30" will be a ton to ship. I tried, but could never get my DC box down to a size that was less than this number (which I can't remember off the top of my head).

:yeahthat:

I went to the post office with the MA in an MA box and it was going to be about $100 to ship it. But then we cut it 2 inches on the top, and it was only $23!

You need the girth (4 smallest sides added together) + height to equal or be less than 109 inches otherwise it quailifies as "extra large package" and has a big surcharge added.

I just shipped a frontier from GA to CA through USPS for $32 because it is 107 ins total.

Man ya'll are lucky. I think between all my seats that I've shipped it's always costed me over $40 to ship. USPS here won't allow larger packages, no fed ex within about a 30 minute drive, and ups is uber expensive.

I am not sure why the car seats are so expensive. I just shipped an special needs wheelchair stroller- weighted 60lbs and was about the size of an dining room chair- for $30 including the box at UPS.
