Nautilus & Back Pain?

Ava rode in her Nauti today for a little over an hour and was crying because her back hurt in it. She hasn't had an issue with the Regent, Marathon or Radian XT. Is the head rest at the right spot? The insert is not on. It is reclined, would that maybe cause it? Anyone else have a problem with this? Any ideas?

I know personally once installed the headrest part doesn't look too cozy but that may just be me.

TIA

MY dd has rode full time in a nauti for nearly 2 years now (we got one of the first ones) and has never complained. I just asked her and she said her seat is comfortable. (she's 5 now). Maybe it is the recline angle, or something about it that is making her back hurt? Are you sure there is nothing "poking" her (I once installed seat and unbeknownst to me the latch hook and belt, which i hadn't used, was bunched up behind the kid in the beltpath - OW!) or anything?
You might try adjusting the angle...if not, you might try just giving it a couple days, it could just be as simple as the fact that because the angle is different, she is using dufferetn muscles to sit in it than in her other seats, and once she gets used to the posture the seat puts her in, it will pass?

I would recommend having her try to sit with her legs crossed (if thats even possible) or get her a foot rest & that will take some pressure off her back.

Where is it hurting her back?
We had issues with 2 Nautis we had. They were defective. The little button that holds the latch strap in place was set wrong and pushed on their backs. On both seats. They were from the same batch. They were Mariposa. I've felt a ton of nautis since and haven't felt this again. You might feel this and see if that's it.

Thank you guys for answering!

I put her in it so she could tell me where it is hurting. She is pointing to where the top tether and latch are bolted in, it is a big bump under the cover. I reduced the recline so hopefully that will help.

That is one of the spots she is pointing to. How did it look or feel? Maybe that is the problem. Or maybe Ava is a pill ;)

It was just like you said, a big bump under the cover. It is not supposed to be like that. You should contact graco. My girls have sensory issues, so I had my 9-year-old niece sit in it for a bit and tell me if it was uncomfortable and she said it was. My little sister bought a mariposa one for her dd and it was fine. I felt it and felt it. That's a defect. Call Graco and let them know.

When we sent ours back, Miriam said it could either be that the plastic bolt was not placed deeply enough or the fabric was assembled without the proper amount of padding. After looking at several nautis and then really looking at my little sister's, I see that the bolt was not put in deeply enough.

THANK YOU!

The bolts/fabric around the bolts stick out about a quarter inch and half an inch. The padding is very minimal but I have very little experience with the Nautilus so I don't know how padded it is.

Sounds exactly like our problem. I'm sorry to say, but I'm sorta glad to hear this. We were the only ones with this problem and I was feeling alittle freakish.

DD always complained about her bottom, but never her back, sounds almost like it is primarily the girly seats? Ours was a plain jane black and gray...
