true fit ff not tether or shoule we use it rf

both our true fits have broken tethers
ds1 true fit is ff would it be okay to still use ff without a tether or should we turn him rf ds1 still fits rf with about 3 inches of shell and just weighed him with shoes and he is 34lbs
extra seats are in grandmas basement and we can't get them til friday

I would not use it FF if it couldn't be tethered. RFing would be safer so turn him but watch his weight closely until you can replace the seat. You don't want him to exceed 35lbs while rear-facing.

As long as he's not above 35 pounds he's fine and safe to rear face in the car, but the seat has passed testing without a tether, so while it's not ideal, and not the safEST, it's safe.

What happened that they broke? Does Learning Curve/First Years know?

yeah that's what I thought so now i have 2 convertible seats that can't be used
ff I am kinda mad since we just got them in September and I since the seat is broken there is no option to sell it later

The seats are warrantied, and they will surely still be under warranty if you just bought them in September. Call Learning Curve and explain your problem, good idea to have pics to send them as well.
