Booster ready?

J is 6 years 7 months. IMO, he's pretty immature. When he turned 6, I let him ride in the GN in booster mode, then got him a Vivo. He kept taking his head out of the wings (I forget why). I threatened him to be reharnessed, and he didn't stop. So one day I came to work with the GN installed again.

He looks like he has a tad bit of growing room in the harness. But when I put a ruler in the slot, it was prtty much straight, meaning he's even with the slots (maybe just a hair under). Ugh. I really wanted to get to at least 7 :( I'm hoping his torso doesn't grow for awhile. I'm keeping him in the harness for now. I'm also considering checking him in BabS' RN (she can use another Titan) because that might give him more room. I really don't want to ahve to buy a Regent. Especially since he won't get one in Mom's car, just the GN in booster mode.

He can sit properly within the seatbelt. It's just the headwings he's leaning out of. And not so much reaching forward and stretching the seatbelt, I think it was just his head. I know we don't like to see 6 year olds in backless boosters. But I do have side curtain airbags. And I'm pretty sure his head would reach that high (I'll double check). Because of his head leaning out...

Here's my question.... I don't think he's booster ready. Am I wrong, since the rest of his body can sit properly, would you call him booster ready?

Leaning your head forward isn't a huge deal as long as the seatbelt fits properly. I'd put him back in the booster and really work on good booster manners.

If he's about to outgrow the Nautilus, there's no way he's going to fit in a Radian.

I agree. I'd teach him to keep his back against the back of the seat and just peek his head around the wings if he wants to look around. I don't consider "booster ready" to be never moving at all and sitting completely straight-backed all the time. No one I know is THAT good in the car. As long as the seat belt is in the right place at all times, a little movement is ok.

ok, thanks. I guess I'm just thrown by A. She always sits right, and keeps her head in the wings (except recently when she's reading).
