2 car seats on the plane?

Also, would it be possible for them to add tickets for your DD on only some legs of the flight? So if say one was booked up but the other 3 were available, that would give you *something*.

This might work, but it depends which leg was full. If you're unlucky this could be very expensive. I would ask a travel agent. You can also ask New Zealand if they will do an *infant block,* which is keep the seat next to you free until the whole rest of the plane is full in the hopes that you might be able to put a carseat there. Some airlines no longer do this though.

I also would consider bringing the BLVD instead of the GN. That way if you do have to check the Coccoro and it gets lost or damaged you'll have more flexibility about what seat you buy to replace for the trip because both kids could fit in the BLVD. Or maybe the BLVD has a girlie cover and that's why your DS wouldn't want to use it?? If your son fits into a Scenera or Avenue maybe you could consider one of those choices for him too.

Sorry I decided you had two DDs, OP! Oops.

Thanks again for all your support and ideas! Still racked with indecision about what to do, and haven't even gotten a chance to call AirNZ because the kids are sick. There goes one now. But real quickly:

Thank you, mommycat for sharing your links! I will be reading again to glean more ideas.

And as per your suggestions, I have purchased a Combi Coccoro in Cherry Pie - they ran out of Chestnut (thanks again, ketchupqueen for the great deal ) and most likely will be taking our BV for DS (it's not a girlie cover so he can definitely still use it). Who knew that traveling with two kids on a plane would take so much money, preparation, and agonizing thought and worry?? Thank you all for being so helpful.
