I'm so disappointed:(. I decided to weigh DS out of the blue today because he hasn't been weighed in a while and low and behold he is 34.6 pounds:eek: with a wet diaper and short sleeved shirt and pants. I'm so upset and scared. He's not even 2. I guess tomorrow I have no choice but to turn him ff. Ugh! why does being a responsible parent have to be so difficult:thumbsdown:. I'm sick to my stomach just thinking about it.

I had to turn my then 22 month old a year and a half ago when she hit 35 lbs. At the time there was nothing else with a higher RFing limit. Can you get something else or trade for something else with a higher RFing limit.

It really scared me to turn her that early because of how young she was. If your son were older it wouldn't be so scary.

I had to turn my ds at.... 19 months! he was 33pounds! (had a 33 lbs britax) there was no way i could get a different seat for those two pounds (sadly at the time medical bills & tests for him at to come first) I thank god that we've never been in an accident (He is 3.5 yrs now)

So i feel your pain :(

When (or if) i have a second baby we'll be getting a 40lbs rear-facing seat!

For a child who is not even two, I would purchase a new seat that rear faces beyond 35 pounds.

I don't pretend to know your financial situation, but the Graco My Ride is currently on sale at Target for 120 :)

I really wish that were an option. Unfortunately we don't even have enough money to properly feed our family until DH gets paid again. Right now we are surviving on what the church gave us a couple of days ago. :(

I was really hoping this wouldn't happen until tax time.

This happened when Caleb was about 22 months old. He was just about 33lbs and his Marathon only went to 33lbs. We scrambled up the money and bought a MyRide to keep him rear facing. Now he'll be able to rear face to at least 2.5 yrs old

((((HUGS)))) I know buying a new seat isn't always an option, especially now. I'm hoping the same thing doesn't happen to us. Hopefully Austin won't gain 5lbs in 8 months so we can make it to 2 in his tfs. Our blvd has the 33lb limit, but I'm trying to swap it for at least a 35lb seat.

You are doing a great job RFing to the limits of your seat. Have you confirmed his weight on another scale to make sure it's accurate? Foward facing in a properly used harness is a very safe option. Just think how much more protection you've provided your child than was available not too many years ago when all the seats had 20lb RFing limits. Do you have tether anchors in your car for your forward facing seat? If not, look into getting them, some car manufacturers will provide a tether anchor retrofit for free.
