How to destroy a SS1 base?

Our SS1 was in an accident in MIL's car yesterday. Luckily DD wasn't in it at the time and I had already ordered an EFTA this wek to replace it. So, I know the seat and base have to go. I can take the strap out of the seat take the padding off. But how do I make sure that no one picks up the base and tries to use it? Any tips?

At least I have 3 other bases I can sell. I was planning to get a different seat for the next baby anyway.

Let DH go crazy with a sledge hammer?
Write do not use, in a crash all over it?
Put it in the very bottom of the garbage can and put a lot of nasties over it?

My favorite:

See if there is a car seat recycler near you!

I tend to first remove all the screws and take it apart as much as I can that way, then hack through the belt path with an axe, write DANGER DO NOT USE all over it, and put it in a dark colored garbage bag so no one can see what it is. Trust me, it's all kinds of fun ;)

Hmmm...I could really get out some of my frustration from work today :p I'll talk to DH and see how creative he wants to get. One of us can do the base and one can do the seat:D

I gave my son a baseball bat and stuck him out in the yard to destroy a carseat we just got rid of after stripping it down. He didn't do too much damage, but enough that it was obvious then I wrote crashed all over it and didn't put it out til just before the garbage man came.
