Compare the RFing room taken up by a MR vs. Radian vs. MA

I have been trying my hardest to RF C again but because J has to be passenger outboard its turning into a never ending puzzle.

I thought I had the answer today when I got the RFing MA drivers outboard but I had to move the drivers capt chair up so that the RFing radian took up too much room even if I were driving and had my seat bolt upright. J would have ben drivers outboard 3rd row and I would have folded down the drivers capt chair.

So I either need a seat that takes up less room RFing than the Radian or a seat that takes up less space for Baby S in the 3rd row.

I would prefer not the last option because that would mean buying two new seats (I have a 33 lb RFing limit radian) so I need to know if the MyRide takes up less room RFing than than the Radian?

(Which I wonder why I didn't try the radian RFing in the middle of the 3rd row. Blast, now I will have to take out the Frontier again. )

if the radian installs close to 45 degree angle in your car then yes the MR will take up less space, much less. I think people have compared it to the MA in terms of RF space front to back.

That would be a great addition, it will fit so many different age kids!

I agree with this. Even in my Focus, where I can get less than a 45 degree recline (thanks to the squishy seats), the My Ride takes up quite a bit less RF room than the Radian. In my Focus and also my Escort, it takes up about the same amount of RF room as the MA - maybe a little less, even. I love it as a RF seat.

Woohoo!

Thanks everyone! Now I am going to install the marathon and BV both RFing on the drivers side. If I have enough room for both then I should have enough for a MR!

Just for comparisons sake, the MR does have higher sides than the MA, so keep that in mind in deciding where to put it. It will be harder to load a kid than into a MA. To me, that is a small sacrifice for the benefit of those taller sides, likely better protection.

I really really love the MR!!!

Just to clarify, would the My Ride be for C? If so, I want to add that DD (4 in two weeks, and about the same size as C) really loves her My Ride. The cover (Patina Bloom) is soft, the buckles etc. are comfy (and she's learning to do/undo them), she has lots of leg room, and of course she loves the cupholders. She has no problems climbing in and out of the seat on her own.(And believe me, she is more than willing to express her opinion about car seats, so I'd know if she didn't like it.)

What van do you have? I've installed it RF on the passenger side of my folks' Odyssey a few times - it was super easy, and there was plenty of room.

Was the Safety 1st Complete Air a consideration, Arly? That was sooo much better in my van in regards to rear-facing room compared to my Radians. In fact, even with my driver's seat back all the way to where I need it I still have room, which it's annoying me because I want the CA braced :p Such a stark contrast from the rear-facing room the Radian gave me.

It was and I hated it in person and so did C. She hated how close the straps were together and said "Its too rough" and "Its too big" (her term for anything she doesn't like) and rubbed her neck until I took her out. The price was killing me too.

Yes, the MR will be for C and the unloading and loading was a big consideration for me. I wanted to go with a Radian first and still might if I can get it installed RFing in the center of the 3rd row because poor C has serious cordination issues but I dont mind lifting if we get a MR.

The van is a Ford Freestar 04 and the MR will have to go in a captains chair. Maedze tried it RFing in that van's 3rd row and it was over reclined, however the CA fit.
