The Canada testing and anchors/belt

Did anyone notice where they tested some seats using both the lower anchors AND seat belt? If you're interested in reading it, here is the link
http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/roadsafety/safedrivers-childsafety-programs-testing-harness-report-923.htm

I was most interested where they said
"We thought that the seat belt could possibly act as a safety net, if the UAS were to ever fail. "

and

"However, adding the belt to the UAS did reduce the forward displacement for certain seats. "

and they added that "Overall, installing a child seat with both the UAS and the seat belt did not have a noticeable effect on either the injury measures or how far forward the child seats moved."

So Im curious what all our techs thoughts on that are. We've always said no to use them both together because it was either not tested that way, or tested that way and failed but we had no way to know which.

Anyway, thats it. Just thought it was intriguing that they tested them that way, and the conclusions they came to.

If this needs to be in a more private forum, please feel free to move it. Dont want anyone to think Im endorsing using both methods.

This was tested on very few seats.
It only improved outcome for (I believe) 2.

This is NOT something that I will recommend. It goes against manufacturers instructions, and has not been adequately tested.

My thought is that it's interesting enough to warrant further testing, but until those tests happen, it's still not a good idea.

I think it is reassuring to learn that the use of both is probably not catastrophic. When people come here and tell us they are using both we don't need to stress the person out by telling them they've had their child at danger all the while latch and seatbelt have been used to secure the car seat. We can just tell them not to because the manufacturer says so.

I believe Ford has done some testing in this regard, too.

However, since NO CR manufacturer has, it's not adequately tested and I would never recommend it.
