These are of my son (now almost 18) in his carseats back in the early 90's. The first one I think was an Evenflo (obviously a OHS version) he was about 16 months in that picture. The second one is a Fisher-Price T-shield model and I believe he was 3 yrs old. As you can see, I always kept him in the center, I was fanatical about that, as I drove a 1988 Nissan Sentra, which was basically a little tin can on wheels. Shortly after that he was moved into a shield booster- but I don't have any pictures of that. (Again, these are pictures of the originals, the date stamps are from my Kodak camera!)

Oh cute! I installed one of those FP T-shields in my van once, and it was a Fiiiiine install...so tight, so simple...so...so... recalled (it was for preschool, and the parents just didn't know...)

My mom kept finding them at garage sales and buying them to give to local immigrant families up until a few years ago- I had to tell her to STOP!!!! She was like, "WHY????" The harnesses were always tight- I think they retracted automatically and were super-snug.

I really liked that seat too....a family with 9 kids that I sat for
(well, 7 when I was their sitter) had a van full of them and they were so easy to use. I wish "they" would come out with a safer, similiar design today.
