I find the seat incredibly easy to use, and the installation is great. I have had just about every seat on the market (including the fabulously easy-to-install FPSE convertable back in the day). The TF takes the cake.

The funny thing about the ease of use ratings is that they don't actually have much to do with installations. They're more about labels and manuals.

I knew there must be something up. From an installation standpoint I disagreed with many of their assessments.

Ooooh, so many pretty pretty stars.... :D.

What has kind of weirded me out about these ratings in the past is that the ones that seem to adhere best to the FMVSS 213 manual rules, are the ones that often get fewer stars. I haven't looked closely at this round of evaluations, but it just makes me think the left hand of the government doesn't know what the right hand is doing. (Like, FMVSS says, 'you must say XYZ', but then the manual does say XYZ, the NHTSA ratings complain it's confusing, it should say ZYX. Very odd).

That really wasn't my point. The title was just a joke. But both, the truefit with arb and their infant seat, the via, are the only seats that got the 5 star overall rating is all. I thought you all might like to see the ratings, that was the main point of the post, since they just came out a couple of days ago. Were they already posted and I missed it?

yes, this too. FMVSS 213 says XYZ, but you score higher if you say YXZ and ABC. or it says draw a picture of the restraint and you get extra credit for adding a line that depicts the vehicle seat...

not the most effective use of taxpayer money, IMNSHO. :p

If it's mostly about manuals then I really don't understand the ratings. One of the few things I dislike about the TFP is that the manual is badly organized and poorly worded/written. It's the worst of any American convertible I've seen so far. The labels on the seat -are- great though. Love the installation instructions under the cover!
