Ideas on how to approach?

So, my sister has her granddaughter today for the first time. She has seen her a bit when my nephew has had her, but this is the first time she has had her. I was joking with her about when she got her new car that she was saying it is not for car seats when I was checking out the back seats. So, that got me onto asking what seat the baby is in etc. Turns out this 9 mo old is forward facing. I told her oh no she is too young and needs to be rear facing. She said well this is how she was in her mom's sister's car.

My nephew is currently in jail:eek: He is 18, baby's mom is 16 or 17. I am assuming she just doesn't know that baby should be rearfacing. I don't really know her though. I have seen her twice, once in passing and once at a birthday party in June.

I am thinking of asking my other nephew (the one with the pg girlfried) if he has this girl's email address. If I can get it, I want to email her, let her know that even though I have never had to opportunity to get to know her or the baby that as baby's aunt I am concerned for her safety and give her a link either to joel's journey or to this [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRP7ynNI8mI&NR=1&feature=fvwp"]video.[/ame]

Does that sound like a good or bad idea?

I am open to suggestions!

TIA

ETA: One thing that makes me really like the video I linked is her baby is also a Madison!

Yes, it sounds fine. Give it a try, it can't hurt. Maybe just keep it light and simple. Post the video and let her know you're able to help with seat installation if she'd like. :)

Yes I think an email would be nice and if your sister is open to it maybe she could get a seat for her house if she's going to have the opportunity to keep her grandaughter in the future. :)
