Why does our rf MA get more reclined over time?

Can anyone give me some tips? Our little gal will be 2 next month, and she enjoys a more upright rf install. I can get the seat installed pretty uprightly, and it is very tight. But after a couple weeks it is back to nearly a 45 degree install. It isn't as if it is wiggling loose - it is still tight. But the angle of recline does change, and the rear tether becomes slack over time as the seat reclines itself.

Why? And is there a solution, or should we just resign ourselves to an infant recline?

Is it because you are pulling it away from the seat bight to install upright, and your seats are very sloped and/or slick? If so, more compression may or may not help/be possible; moving to another spot in the car may be more helpful.

I have found with my MA, that when I install it with LATCH, tightening it pulls it out of recline mode just a bit (or at least it looks like it is). So maybe that, combined with the weight of the child pushing it back where it 'should' be.

Ours does the same thing. I am keeping ours in a more upright position for my 2.5 year old, and I end up loosening up the LATCH straps, returning it to it's previous upright position, and then tightening it back down again. I can always tell it's time because the tether starts getting saggy.

I should have mentioned it is a seat belt installation (no latch in our '99 Suburban), and yes, they are squishy, slippery leather seats.

I have the SAME problem with my MA, RF in my 2001 Yukon XL. I also have, as the PP said, installed mine away from the bight of the seat to get a more upright seat. But I too notice this from time to time. I just take a few mins. to reinstall. Not sure if there is anything you can do. My seats are also slippery leather.
