Dating an RA based on the cover?

I am trying to date a Roundabout based on the cover it has. Is there a resource where I can do this? This is for a carpool situation and I suspect the seat is pretty old as this pattern was not available when we got my son's seat and this seat would have been purchased earlier than ours. The owner says it is still good, but I want to confirm without making waves...

It is pastel/pinkish patchworky type of pattern if that rings a bell for anyone.

Thanks.

That sounds like Popsicle. I have one w/an 11/03 DOM so it's possible that it's still ok, but probably not for long. I don't remember how much longer that pattern was available after I got mine.

thanks that would be about right - my friend's baby was born fall 03 and my son was spring 04 and I'm pretty sure that seat was not available when I bought his around June 04. (both being used for younger sibs at this point - I wasn't sure if she found something newer that I was not aware of.)

gah this is just one more complication in my so far unsuccessful attempts at arranging carpooling...and I'm sensing the other mom is getting a bit irritated at my concerns about the various seat options.

Remember that sometimes people do buy or swap covers.

I don't think this is the case, as her second child is a boy and he is using the old pink cover...;)

What type of base does it have? that's a better indicator of whether it's older than ~03. Here's a picture of the old style base - http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/child-car-seat-brown-combo.jpg.

Thanks for posting this, I'll take a look next opportunity I get.

what are the logistics of the carpool situation - are you sharing drop off/pick up duties for your LO's and if so, would you have any reason to, say, see how your backup seat would fit next to the RA so you could peek at the DOM sticker?

Yes i might be able to do that, stick our RA in next to hers since I have never installed in her make of car before. I'll have to look for an opportunity.
