problems with my EFTA, is there a fix to new buckle issue?

We have been using our EFTA Rfing and it is okay. I love my MAs and I am not crazy about the knobs but I am dealing with it as I do want to keep DS RFing until his second b-day inDecember. RFing the seat has not been an issue, but I installed the seat FFing today in DH's truck only to have the buckle dig into his belly. DS is 22 months, 27lbs. The crotch strap is on the furthest position but that seemed to make it turn further into his belly.
Are there any fixes to make the seat work better FFing?
TIA
Amanda
