My head is spinning with all the options out there, and I can't make up my mind! I'm new to posting on the boards, but have been reading for a long time, and I've noticed lots of complaints about installing seats in the center of the RAV4, which is making my decision all the more difficult....
So here's what I have.... I was in an accident and wound up with an 06 RAV4 (long story). I had no problem at all installing the Safeseat 1 with the base in the center of the 2nd row (I have no third row). Now my daughter is about to outgrow the safeseat, and I want to keep her rearfacing as long as possible. I also want a convertible seat that will keep her harnassed for as long as possible even after turning her around. Our accident was a side impact accident. So I'm hypersensitive about putting her in the center with a seat with "wings" or as much side protection as possible. It saved her from any apparent injury in the accident, and I want to keep it that way should we have another accident.
I've narrowed my choices to the Radian XT, the Boulevard, or the True Fit. But, after reading all the issues with the center seat in the RAV, I can't decide which one would be compatible. I'm willing to do a bunch of contortions to get it in, within reason.... But I don't want to spend tons of time on it or end up not being able to get her in the center. So what which would you choose?
I've even considered trading the RAV for a CRV? Is the CRV a better car to get seats in the center?
And the final option.... Trade the RAV for a Camry. I consider this because I worry about flying objects from the open cargo areas of the small SUVs. Is the Camry a better car to get seats in the center?
Sorry for the long post. I'm just trying to get the safest option for my daughter. And it's been a difficult decision given our history with the accident and all the options out there. Thanks in advance for all your advice!
