Regarding the Apex...

Well, I am in a quandary then. I can't afford the higher-end Britax seats, although I could swing a Parkway or Bodyguard. But then she'd be in a BPB still, and I'd prefer to get her back into 5-pt. for another year or two. My kids are mostly pretty petite, and this particular child has a shorter build even than my others do/did. I adjusted her younger sister's AO to fit her, and the harness slots were only at 15.5". The Boulevard's specs say the harness slots only go to 12.5". So how can it hold her up to 65 lbs.? Was this an error in the webpage? (babyage.com)

But most convertable seats can only use the harness up to 40 lbs. Ugh. So is most everyone here with the older kiddos using the Regents then? I hate to put a price on safety, but we just can't manage much over $100 right now. :(

So basically, you are feel like you can choose an Apex, or a BPB at this time right?

If those are your choices, then the Apex wins hands down. A 5 point harness is safer than a booster. All seats are tested to the same standards. Although the Apex isn't nearly as 'nice' of a seat as the Britax, it passed the same tests.

Good luck!

Can anyone with a BV confirm that slot height? I was thinking there's no way that's right, but that's what elitecarseats shows as well! Surely the BV's highest slots aren't really 12.5?? The RA is listed at 16" and MA at 18" (though I've always heard 17 for the MA's) - and the DC at 14? The DC and BV measurements must be off.

Anyway - if there was no way I could spring for a MA or Regent, yes, I'd go for the Apex.

I measure the 'top slots' on the BV at 17", same as on my MA. If you're interested I posted one for sale on the coffee break forum. Don't know if I can post that here.

FWIW, my older kid, age 6, 47 lbs 48 inches is in a turbobooster, (was in a cargo in booster mode for over a year). Just responding to the part in the OP regarding older kids.
