Need Advice

My son is 13 months old & is small.. only 25 inches tall & 20 pounds. We are expecting a newborn in the next couple of days and want to use the infant seat with him. I am curious on what I should buy my older son.. a convertible seat or a combo toddler/booster. I am so confused and need giudance. Help !

I would definitely recommend a convertible-

Your son will be much safer rear facing for some time, perhaps even up to another year. My daughter is just about to turn forward facing in her carseat, at 29 months and 30 pounds. Also see www.car-safety.org/rearface.html for more information on why to continue rear-facing.

As for specific seats, I highly recommend the "Carseat Basics" link under the top banner. At the bottom of that page, you will also find links to web pages with specific model recommendations.

Congratulations, good luck, and have a safe new year!

I agree with Darren. I would look at a convertible seat that can rear-face to 30 lbs. for your son. Then, when he's older and heavier, you can turn that seat forward-facing.
