Buying carseat too soon?

I don't know why I'm asking because I already know the answer, lol.

My second baby is due in April and I already have his infant carseat, a Graco Snugride2. He should be able to use that for about 10-12 months, so he won't need a convertible until the beginning of next year. I should NOT buy a convertible for him NOW, correct? I don't want to buy it now and then not be able to use it for him, for as long as needed, because I got it too soon and it expired. You know what I mean?

So the best idea would be to hold off on that and buy it next year, right?

yes Id wait, BUT Id make sure to check the mfg date on the seat when you buy it too. We got my DS's seat when he was outgrowing his last infant seat and it was already over a year old  !!!!! I didnt know to check the dates back then. It was Jan 31 2003 and we bought it march 2004, grrrr! But hes outgrowing it at 2.5 anyway so it didnt end up hurting us... if it has been someone else with a smaller child it probably would have.

Yeah, I'd wait until the baby is near outgrowing the infant seat - though I'd expect that to be sooner than 10 months. My kids were on the bigger side, but they were both over 20 lbs at 6 months.

My son outgrew his Snugride around 6 months, but that was the older model that only goes to 20 lbs. and 26 in. I bought a Snugride 2 for this baby. When I got it, I put my son in it, just to see if he would fit, and he had 2 or 3 inches of room above his head, although he was just over the weight limit. That's why I expect to get about 10 months out of it with this baby.

I'm doing okay...a lot better actually. I went to see an attorney and she said since we are agreeing on custody and everything, a separation agreement would be best, as opposed to going to court. So we talked about what I wanted in the agreement and before I paid the fee to have it drawn up, I called my husband and told him exactly what would be in it and made sure he was still agreeing and he said he was. The only thing he seemed to be worried about was how much he was going to have to pay.

So the papers are being drawn up and we should have them signed and filed before the 16th. Right now, I just don't want him to change his mind and decide not to sign them. So once they're signed and filed, and become and actual court order, I'll be just fine!

He agreed to sole custody w/ agreed and arranged visitation. So I will have sole custody of our boys (the agreement will be revised in a few months to add the baby in) and he will have whatever visitation we agree on, no set schedule that we have to go by. That will be best for us, because his schedule at work changes every so often. This will allow us to work out a shedule that will work for both of us and adjust it to our needs over time.

So since the custody and visitation was the main thing I was worried about, to have him agree on it and give me what I want takes a HUGE load off. The preterm labor has calmed down considerably, although I still have to be on the medication for the contractions. The baby is doing well though, strong hearbeat and very active! I get to have an ultrasound on Valentine's Day to get a weight on him and I'll also get some more 3D pictures...so I'm excited about that.

Things are looking up! Thanks for asking about me!
