seat protectors?

I recently saw a seat protector that goes under the carseat or booster to protect the vehicle seat from dents, wear, etc. The particular one i saw was a bit padded i think (claims to protect from dents as well as stains).

But i wondered if using something like this would affect the intallation of the actaual carseat or safety at all? The idea is appealing.

The ONLY things that are approved for use under the child restraint is a THIN towel OR a sheet of that rubbery thin shelf liner.

Anything thicker can interfere with the restraint's installation.

Aftermarket product 9anything that did not come in the box with your car seat when you puchased it) are not recommended. The PP is correct a thin towel is the recommenation. Shelf liner can be used, but can make you think you have a tight install when you don't. It also has lots of hole, not much spill prtotection. I do not recommend shelf liner.

The towel will protect the seats from getting dirty. As for dents, they pop out quicker than you night think on both leather and cloth upholstery.
