So answer me this, if ya could.

Why is it that in the Regent, my dd's shoulders are exactly AT the 14 inch second to top slots, and in the CHASE, she is a 1/2 inch ABOVE the 14.5 inch second to top slots. So in the Regent, she has a 14 inch torso, and in the Chase, a 15 inch torso? And when I measure her sitting, she has a 14.5 inch torso?

Maybe because I do use the Recline Bar on the Regent, so it lays back a bit more?

The things that make me go Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

this always seems to be the case in different carseats...even the same carseat can be different when installed as compared to on the floor of your living room...funny stuff really

i once took out on of my seats to clean my car and when i put it in the same place it was shorter. The child that was in it used to have 2 inchs of room than had like 1/2 inch. But i got a new seat so i dont have to worry about it. But it is very weird

This is so strange, isn't it?!? We've had the same issue. For example, Nolan HAD as much room or more left in his Triumph as the does the Marathon... Then I realized the Triumph wasn't upright... ... When I straghtened it up, then that took out some of the difference. So I think the way different seats angle in the seat, plus seat shapes that affect how straight up a child fits in the seat, can all affect how tall their shoulders are in the seat... :)

I don't think anyone will every be able to fully explain it. When I took our MA out of dh's car last weekend, I checked dd's shoulder height before installing it in the van. Her shoulders were at or maybe slightly above the 2nd from the top slots so I moved them up. Now, with it installed tight, I keep looking at her and wondering if I should move them back down. It is so close, it is hard to tell. I'll leave them alone, mainly because I've uninstalled and reinstalled so many seats since Friday, that I'm done for a while.

I think a lot has to do with slouching(or at least in our case). In the husky/regent there is more room to slouch because of how far away the crotch buckle is. Until I moved his husky into my mom's car he was about an inch over the second from bottom slots(my car- no recline bar, LBP, and tether) and now in her car he is even with the top rim of the second from bottom slot(no recline bar, latch, tether... but her bench has a lot more recline to it and he slouches something awful in it). Its very weird! Also, when I measured ours I got more like 15" for those slots(just went and remeasured and still, not pressing, I get 15").
