Hello all!

First time Mom here getting a little overwhelmed with all the options available for car seats! I'm looking for a convertible car seat (I think), ideally suitable for up to 100lbs (at least), and available in Canada.

I looked at the recommendations list for convertible car seats, but it seemed most had a very low max range?

Additionally, in my own research so far it seems most of the brands with convertible car seats are Safety 1st/Cosco or Evenflo while these brands don't seem to show up on the recommended list. Are these brands less good? Is there anywhere I can do a "which car seat is best for me" quiz? jk, but not really.

Thank you for any help!

Hi! It is overwhelming and why most of us get into the child passenger safety field!

First, keep in mind that even though a carseat that goes to 100 lbs. sounds like a great idea right now, 70 lbs. from now that seat will look nasty. You may think that you will take the cover off on a regular basis to wash it, but you won't because most covers don't come off easily and many are drip dry only (machine dry is a feature to look for!). Also, the best seat is one that fits your kid now and allows some growth. A carseat that is designed to fit a 5 lbs. baby won't fit a 100 lbs. child well.

OK. All carseats are crash tested and do really well! Some have better creature features that make them easier to use than others. Some have more padding to hide that they don't have the creature features ;). You have more limited options up in Canada, but Evenflo has some nice seats, like the EveryStage. Graco has a nice selection as well. You may want to consider the Extend2Fit because it installs really upright and I know the WRX is small. Read the instruction manual online before buying because there are some special installation instructions based on weight for forward-facing and the extension panel must be out while rear-facing in Canada, I believe. If you have the budget, homegrown Clek is awesome.

Hopefully this gives you a starting point!
