  • Neither is safer, although LATCH is typically easier because a locked seatbelt will give the carseat a slight tilt to one side (not a dangerous thing at all).

    Your Scenera should have come with a lower connector strap. They are required to be attached to the carseat. Carefully read through your owners manual that came with your Scenera. It will have detailed instructions on how to install your Scenera using LATCH in your Mazda 3.

    The extra strap (top tether) coming from the back of the Marathon in my picture is our top tether. It is attached to a d-ring that also came with the Marathon and there are instructions on how to do this in the Marathon manual. The Scenera can NOT be top tethered when rear facing.
