2015 crv 3 across

We are expecting twins and we already have a, will have just turned 2 year old. She is in a Chicco nextfit, we already own one Chicco keyfit that we plan to use. My question is, will 3 seats safely fit in the 2015 CRV- EXL or is another vehicle on our horizon? Thank you!

You can fit three seats, but not those three is my guess. The Keyfits are good, or at least the one you have, not sure if you want to get a second to go with it. But a narrower seat for the two year old would help. We're happy to help you know which seat to try if you let us know your child's age now, height, and weight, and what a comfortable budget for the two new seats would be. You could also try two seats for the babies behind the driver and center, and the NextFit behind the passenger.

16 month old who is 22 pounds and a new baby coming in March. We have a 2015 crv and 2 Cosco scenera car seats. Is there any combination that would work with the latch system? Ideally if we can keep at least one of the cosco seats that would help our budget.

A slim infant seat in the middle (like the Chicco KeyFit) with the 2 Scenera NEXTs on the sides might have a good shot at fitting. Has the 16-month-old been using the Scenera since birth or did he/she start in an infant seat?

You cannot use LATCH for all 3 seats. You have 5 lower anchors and 1 is for either an outboard or center position; however if using it in one seat you cannot use the other seating position at all for anyone because they overlap.

So in reality if you have 3 seats there, one seat (in the non overlap position) can use lower anchors. The other 2 must be installed with seatbelt. And in truth, with the one installed with lower anchors it's unlikely you would be able to use the center position even with narrow seats. It's just too tight a space. Using seatbelt allows more room because the seat can be a bit off center.

Lower anchors aren't safer than seatbelt; they have a weight limit and a seatbelt doesn't, in fact. The tether should always be used forward facing, but lower anchors are always optional.

I think a very narrow forward facing seat- given the difficulty of install in that vehicle, I would probably try the Graco Tranzitions SnugLock and still expect some difficulty- with a Chicco Keyfit or Clek Lling might work on the narrower seats, with the rear facing Scenera Next in the wider non overlap position (but probably with seatbelt.) I would recommended finding a CPST to help with and check the installs as they may be tricky.

The 16 month old used an infant seat at birth.

They said in this article that nothing changed from the generation before this crv I have and they said this combo would work in the generation before mine. Do you think this isn't accurate ?

This website is not an authoritative resource and in some cases may be obsolete. Last I checked, they compiled much of their "data" from threads here at Car-Seat.Org and other websites and demonstrated zero hands-on experience or testing of their recommendations. It is difficult to guarantee specific 3-across information for exact car seat and vehicles, especially midsize and compact models. Many times it is trial and error unless an advocate or technician has done the exact same setup.

That website's suggestions may be reasonable guides for what to try in some cases, like you will find at many websites, but I would not trust it unless you have free returns on your purchases. Using that information could cost a fortune in returning a large, heavy car seat if it doesn't fit or if you don't like it for another reason.

My mom has a CR-V of this generation and I can guarantee those seats won't work, and you can check your manual yourself to see that you are not able to use more than 1 set of lower anchors with 3 seats installed.

So what about with seatbelts 3 across is still not possible ?

With seat belt installs you may have a shot at it.

With the right seats you can do 3 with seatbelts. The middle seat has to be very narrow. The outer do best if they are both narrow and have a tapered base.
