What to do with repaired recalled bsafe35

So, my 1 yr old is about to outgrow her Britax Bsafe35. As you all know, it was recalled for the handle. We will have the reinforcement bracket in a few days. And it was rarely carried by the handle in the first place.

I had initially planned to resell the seat when she outgrew it since it has been well maintained and is in great shape. Now that it's been recalled, I don't think that is an option anymore.

So.....what do you all recommend I do with it. I'm really bummed not to get any $ back out the seat.

Any chance in the world that Britax would give a discount on a convertible seat?? Has anyone asked?

Thanks!

I sold my Clicktight convertible after it had been repaired after the recall. As long as you are up front about the recall and honest about following the procedure for fixing it, I don't know why selling it wouldn't be an option.

You could also think about selling with the fix kit not installed. I don't know exactly what the fix is but if it's something that you think potential buyers might want to do themselves to know it's done correctly that's an option.

But I don't think there's any problem with selling a seat that with a recall that has been dealt with like this would be.

This. I sold my recalled/repaired CCO here. I'm not familiar with the specifics of the B-Safe recall, but unless there's reason to be concerned that the recall repair doesn't actually fix the problem (in which case I'd be contacting NHTSA!) I wouldn't hesitate to buy a used seat over a recall. There are all kinds of OTHER reasons I'd hesitate, but not that.

Exactly. This document might be a good resource for anyone who is concerned about the legality of selling a used children's product: http://www.cpsc.gov//Global/Business-and-Manufacturing/Business-Education/ResellersGuide.pdf

Thanks! I missed the line about if it had been repaired and was more worried about the red line on the car seat page about it being illegal to sell recalled products.

So would you ask less for it because of the recall?? What's a fair price for a bsafe35 used for 1 year??

Thanks!!

Because it affects the aesthetics I would discount it. Heavily.

Generally the formula is divide price by years (or months) in life, then subtract that many years (or months) gone off expiration life from full price, then discount for wear and cosmetic defects.

I found that you just have to check out the market, I had to discount my key fit heavily to sell because I live in such a populated area where there were 10 other key fits on Craigslist, mine was newer but no one seemed to care about that.

This. People are cheap where I live. I just sold a Frontier here for less than I sold a Nautilus in another state. Both were the same age.
