Wendy posted up this FAA document in another thread and it got me thinking: http://www.faa.gov/passengers/fly_children/crs/
It states: While booster seats and harness vests enhance safety in vehicles, FAA prohibits passengers from bringing these types of restraints on airplanes for use during taxi, take-off and landing. These restraints should be checked as baggage.
Does this mean you could technically use a booster during the flight, but just not during take off, landing and taxi? I'm particularly interested in using the booster as a place for the kids to lean for sleep support during a 14 hr flight, so even just the back portion would maybe work if the seat portion would raise them up too high to be safe with the plane lapbelt.
Thoughts? Even if technically allowed, I could see it ruffling feathers with the flight crew. . .
My kids are very small for their ages, and I estimate that at time of travel will be 42 lbs 47in 7yo, 48lbs 49in 9yo.
