Dorel dual level line seats

Anyone know if they must be installed to the more upright line when the child is over 22lbs? Had a mom last week asking me this. Child is 23lbs, but she prefers to keep it more reclined because he is quite young still and sleeps a lot in the car.

I always assumed that the 22lb line was in conjunction with the 1y recommendation.

ETA: not that it had to be on the 22lb level line at age 1 but just that it goes along with the FF minimums.

That is an excellent question, and I'm not sure I know the answer. I don't have a seat to look at the wording if it's a "may" or "must" kind of scenario. I also wonder then if anywhere in between those two lines is acceptable over 22lbs, or does it need to be right at one of the lines.

A heavier child at that more reclined angle would certainly cause the seat to rotate downward more, so it very well could be a case of one or the other and no in between. Although that is somewhat contrary to the one line and only one line that Dorel had for years and years. Interesting.

I had always assumed from the wording on the seat for a child over 22 lbs you could install at either line. It would not surprise me in the least however if Dorel says otherwise, I'd be ok with it personally though since they have many seats without the dual lines often just older versions of the same seats.

It's worded as MUST for the 5-22lb line. Must was not in the wording for the 22-40lb line.
