Tether issues...

What so you do when you have a tether you can't tighten enough? It's close but there's a touch of slack. Would you use seatbelt instead of latch? Not compatible?

Honestly - I wouldn't worry about it. There is so much movement in a crash between the loading and the stretching of webbing that the difference between what you're picturing and a super tight tether strap is probably not much difference at all.

With that said, it does annoy me when vehicle manufacturers place the TA that close to the seat back. I'm sure they put it in that exact spot for a good reason but it still annoys me when I can't get the tether strap completely snug (even when I remind myself of the above). Is it just that seating position or are they all in a similar spot?

Tighten it as much as you can and report the incompatibility (last I heard NHTSA was still interested in them.)

Where is the tether attached to the seat? Sometimes you can uninstall, tighten tether a smidge, then reinstall.

I think they are all in the same spot. Should have looked. I figure it won't make much of a difference but there's certainly more give than if it was snug. I too can't stand this design. I think a smaller adjuster could help too.

It's attached to the back top of the seat. I'll try that trick next time. DS2 has really outgrown that seat but the other one I try next time might be worse. It's a little taller... I can imagine the seat being just the wrong height and making it even closer. Hmm...
