I'm interested to know if this is much narrower than the FR85. We have a 2013 Honda odyssey and when installed in middle seat of middle row it catches on the captains chair when folding the seat to access the rear. (This is with seats in wide mode) It only catches where the clips hold the fabric on the carseat so I'm always scared I'm going to rip my leather seat. If this is just an inch narrower or doesn't have those protruding clips I might be convinced to get a new one ;-) Plus those clips are annoying sitting by the carseat as a passenger. I'm always scratching my arm on them.

I would still buy this over the nautilus. The nauti has those damn buckles that are impossible to do! My DD is 6 and she wouldn't be able to do her own buckle. Plus a lot of people still have head slump issues with the nauti

That's what I'm thinking... I just can't tell you how many people rush their kids to booster mode because the harness/crotch strap are so short on the Nauti. Maybe for us sophisticated consumers who buy exactly the seat we need for every distinct minute of our kids lives and seating position we have to work with, the Nauti works as well as this, but for mom q public, a seat with leg room, recline, crotch depth, a long enough harness, super freaky cute cover options, rip-stitch versa tether, and safe cell, is a very nice competitor in the market place for the Nauti. (the Baby Trend monstrosity didn't do it, the rumi air was a flop, the first years thing seems like it will never come, and the Evenflos are kind of meh, Harmony Defender needs some improvements, the more competition, the better :)).

The belt path is so much better than the old FR's (and toward the front of the seat, might work ok with FOTB buckles), I don't think we can begin to judge this seat for lack of a LBP. LBP seems to really have only ever been to make up for super-terrible SBP's in the first place. (I'm talking from years gone by, I've been fussing with LBP's since 2001 :p)

THANK YOU BRITAX FOR CUTE COVERS AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!

:scratcheshead: Well now I have something else to think about and what kind of booster that I will be purchasing. I was all set to get the Pinnacle 90 and then this is coming out sometime and now I just don't know. My DH just loves that I can't make up my mind and have to discuss car seats becuase all he cares about if it is safe enough!! :p

I understand why they did this, but I really feel like this is a step backwards. I would have been much happier if they would have left off all the convenience features like the front adjust, belly pad, etc, and gave it click tight. A budget seat with that installation would have kept a lot of kids on the planet safer. Obviously that would have hurt frontier sales, but still makes me sad. Love that green cover :D I personally would take the 85 on close out any day of the week over this seat, but I'm not all that thrilled with the new shell.

After a brief test of the Pioneer 70, my preference would also be on a[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Britax-Frontier-Combination-Booster-Canyon/dp/B0038W0JJ4/"] Frontier 85 closeout, especially since they can now be found for around $200 or less[/ame], including shipping.

The Pioneer 70 makes a very reasonable alternative for someone considering a [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Graco-Argos-Toddler-Seat-Martin/dp/B007F337NM/"]Amazon.com: Graco Argos 70 Toddler Car Seat Martin: Baby[/ame], for example. The Pioneer has a slightly higher top harness height setting than the Argos and the excellent Britax/SafeGuard harness components. On the other hand, the seatbelt installation is not any easier than a short belt path install of the Frontier 85, and possibly more confusing due to the remnants of the ClickTight system. The Frontier 85 has a higher top harness height setting and much higher booster height adjustment as well.

Jennie/LISmama810 will have a review soon at CarseatBlog.com!

I don't want to steal too much thunder from CarseatBlog's review, but here are a couple comparo shots of the Frontier 90 and Pioneer 70.

I think my comments above are a pretty good initial summary, but perhaps Jennie will have a different opinion after some time with it.

That's not nice Darren! :p

As they say, a picture is worth 1000 words...

Everyone will know once the product starts hitting shelves, so it's not a big secret or anything.

On the other hand, we definitely don't want to encourage any modifications, of course, because there could be other unknown changes that might make this dangerous to a child, not to mention it being permanent, such that it would likely void the warranty.
