It's fun to have CSO friends

I met up with Rachel (trippsmom) today and we traded seats. Again. This time, she got my ProSport and Gage is riding in her FR85. As a bonus, I also came home with a Diono Radian of some sort...still not sure which #s it has because I can't keep those straight anyway.

It's only been in use for the hour it took to get home, but I stripped it naked when I got home and so far, I have some thoughts. I  the cupholders, and after I figured out what I was doing, LBP is pretty cool. I think I prefer it to the open belt path on the PS, although I like it, too.

The cover drives me nuts. What in the world is this $200+ seat doing with a cover that slides around and won't stay on??

I like the head wings on both seats. I like how boxy the PS is because it allows for some things like seats tumbling next to it, but they can be a little over-kill sometimes, too. There's no way Gage would EVER be able to buckle himself in the PS in booster mode. I think he could in the FR85.

In the end, I'm gonna want my PS back, but if I were buying new, it'd be a wash. Actually, knowing me, the lower and falling price on the FR85 would probably drive me that way.

My brother was with me today. As we were leaving, he made an announcement that he did not approve of me leaving with one more seat than I came with, just so DH would still be his friend. Rachel's DH was asking to make sure I didn't want to take a few more!

Lol! Dh was so hoping you'd take more seats. There are only 11 at my house still.

I must admit, looking at the prosport kinda freaks me out since I can see the belt. I do like the cover, a lot!! I love my new mysize, but I'm going to go matchy-matchy later this week and dress the xtsl's to coordinate.

You have an R100 with you. :D

Yes it is! I bought a ProSport from a CSO friend/coworker (zactayaus) yesterday!

I just played with it now since I've been sick all day. The belt path is so weird. It seems to interfere with the harness? Did either of you experience that?

Mmkay, thanks.

Seats are re-dressed and the R100 :)dance:) is in the Expy. It installed awesomely tight, but I had forgotten how much I hate all the Radian straps on the back of the seat. I had to move the buckle for the stored LATCH strap out of the way to install, and then couldn't decide (at first) if the tether should go under the headrest or around it. I decided between, because the v-part is too short to go around. Duh.

Ok, so I just had an epiphany with the Frontier. The LBP means the belt goes BEHIND the seat?? I was so confused. I thought there was a closed belt path that you handed me that belt through . Thanks, YouTube!

Oh, and if you don't like seeing the belt, you could take the cover off of the torso wings, pull it back, install, then put the cover back on the wings. I think. That'd put it behind the lower cover.

Girl, I bought my PS from you. Did you never use it? Yeah, the belt path (or lack thereof) is weird. I had issues with it interfering on the next-to-top harness position, and in certain seating positions where the retractor was really close to the seat itself, so the belt geometry was weird at the top. Recaro has been asked about it and says it's fine, and I'm cool with it so long as it doesn't make it pass the pinch test on one side and not the other. If it's really bad, you can unhook that side of the harness, let the shoulder belt go in between, then rehook it and install as normal.

I truly don't think I had ever installed it correctly. I had only played with it a few times back then!

I'm using it for J, who is 4yo, 35lbs. I think he's on the third from top slot (is that the second from the bottom?). The seatbelt made the original install (2nd slot from top) all weird, but I never thought of undoing the harness to fix it. Thanks!! I really don't like the belt path being open the way it is.

Do you know the LATCH deal off the top of your head? I feel like LATCH would be sooo much easier than seatbelt.

I know I can use LATCH in my Ford til 48lbs. I think the PS says 52lbs or defer to car manufacturer. That may be off, though.

What about with the new LATCH rules? I have a Mazda. I guess I need to look into it. I know the ProSport says 52lbs.

Uh, sorry for hijacking your thread by the way!

No problem. Hijack away! Yeah, I have no idea about the new LATCH rules, because my vehicle is exempt (Ford doesn't bind the new rules on pre-2014 vehicles, so mine will forever be 48lbs child weight only.)
