CPST classes/certification

Has anyone taken a class that was not on 4 weekdays? I just emailed my local safe kids to ask if they were ever going to offer a weekend course or maybe 2 days during the week. I cannot miss 4 days in a row from work. I am just curious if it is only my area that only does 4 weekdays or not :)

I'd ASSume they are always during the week because you have to do a public seat check on the last day, and I can't imagine having class on Sunday or a seat check on a Sunday, nor can I imagine taking a day off. But I could be wrong. :)

Mine was during the week. :)

My class was on 4 weekdays plus the Saturday check, but the 4 class days were in two weeks. So class was Monday, Tuesday one week and then Thursday, Friday, Saturday the following week. At least I think those were the days of the week, I don't remember details but it was definitely two and then three the following week.

I think it all depends on scheduling - when the instructors are available, when the classroom space is available.

Wow, that's neat! Interesting.

See, learn something new everyday; I assumed they wouldn't do that. :)

Quite a few classes around here are 3 weekdays(w-f) and then a Saturday check. I'm hoping I can sign up for one of them!

I've seen a lot of different schedules while browsing the class page.
My class was thurs day and firday, 2 weeks in a row. It made it really easy for me to get only 2 days off work each week :)

Awesome, hopefully they will email me back. Two days a week for 2 weeks would definitely work better than 4 days in a 5 day work week:) Hopefully I will get lucky and find something. So far the only ones up for the next few months are 2 hours or further away. I know they had one a few years ago right in the city I am in but I was not able to get the time off

There are two options for the class here in PA one is two days a week for two weeks and one is one week 4 days.

I wish they would do weekends. It would make it easier. At this point I still have to wait to June.

The class I ended up taking was W-F with the seat check on Saturday. I was having the same problem, not wanting to take 4 days off work.

I did see one class that was several weekends. I can't recall now whether it was too far away or too much $$$ but I couldn't take that one.

Also, after I was certified I did see a weeknight class, I think it was T/Tr for 4 weeks plus 2 Saturdays.

They are few and far between. And my guess is the reason is that MOST people getting certified are getting it as part of their primary job. Not, like us, who are getting it outside of our primary jobs. :twocents:

I have been looking at the classes also for the past 6 months or so. I think we are in the same area? There was one in my city back in Dec. but I couldn't make it. Now all the ones through Sept. are all 1.5-2 hrs away and I can't afford to drive every day or stay in a hotel.

We usually do Wed-Sat in our area. A hospital wanted us to hold a class especially for them with a schedule that would not take their nurses away 4 days in a row. We did Thursday the first week, then Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday of the next week. I LOVED teaching that schedule. I am a SAHM and need my DH to take the day off when I teach - and I don't like using up all of his vacation time so that I can teach. With the weird schedule, he was able to schedule around the class better and use his normal days off.

I thought so, but for some reason I thought you had moved. The closest one I see is Peachtree City. They had one in Columbus in Dec. but I missed it.
