Anyone heard of the Orbitz???

I was on a website and came across this. It was on the front page and caught my eye (now I can't remember what I started off looking for!). Has anyone seen/heard of this? I thought it looked cool except for the 899.99 price tag

Check elitecarseats.com. I think I saw it there. I didn't look it up but when I went to their webpage a few times it came up on the cover page. They change the coverpage all the time. Check them out. I think it was a infant car seat with a stroller and supposedly they were making a toddler stroller seat to use the stroller chassis when the baby outgrew the car seat?

Did some digging on the website for more info....

What are the weight and height recommendations for my Infant Car Seat?

Answer:

The Infant Car Seat can accommodate children from 5 lbs. to 22 lbs, and up to 29 inches.

For that amount of money, I'd expect a larger limit.

Question: Will the Orbit Infant System still be useful after my child is older than 6 months?

Answer:

For the vast majority of children, yes. Our Infant Car Seat is rated up to 22 pounds and 29 inches. More importantly, it is designed to practically be able to accommodate children up to those limits. Our CEO used his Infant Car Seat for his 90+ percentile daughter up past 10 months of age with no problems.

Question: My baby is still less than 22 pounds and 29 inches, but her feet hang out slightly over the bottom rim of the Infant Car Seat, is this a problem?

Answer:

No, the only indications that you have to stop using the Infant Car Seat are if your baby is heavier than 22 pounds, longer than 29 inches, or her shoulder's exceed the shoulder limit line sewn into the Upholstery.

On future products, a Toddler car seat will be available in mid-2007, but it doesn't provide any info on it.

Interesting idea. Just very limiting for age and expensive. I do like the idea of a soft strap handle. Would be much easier and less worrysome about 'shattering' than the ones out on the market.

I would like to see a picture of a baby in the seat. It looked like the seat was lined with the eps foam!? I'm not sure about that rotating base, it would come in handy but do you think it could get misused? How safe would that be in a crash?
I think I like the concept of this seat and stroller but not for the price Maybe for 600 less

It is lined with EPP foam, a higher grade of foam than EPS. That's a fine thing. (Safer? I dunno. Maybe just better longevity?)

And the seat only rotates in the stroller. It turns to latch into the base, but it doesn't swivel while in the carseat bse.
